School Meals

North Tyneside Council catering Services provide our school meals and pride themselves in offering a first class school meal service.

We would strongly recommend that each child has a school meal at lunchtime and we can provide you with a welcome pack containing lots of useful information about their school meals service including important procedures for medically prescribed diets.

All communication and payments for school meals are made through JOINOS, North Tyneside Council Catering Services' and payments website. School meals cost £2.10 per day and should be pre ordered on JOINOS by simply choosing your child's meals online which guarantees children receive a lunch that they will enjoy! You can find more information on the JOINOS website here

All children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are entitles to the government's free meals and we ask that you please complete a registration form which is available from the school office.

Free School Meals

For children who are in Years 3-6, parents who believe that they may be eligible for free school meals should ask at the office for the appropriate forms. The government uses the numbers of children eligible for free school meals to calculate funding levels therefore, even if children do not intent to stay for a school meal, we would ask you to apply and to be registered as eligible for free schools meals. If your aren't sure, please check with the school office.

Packed Lunches

Children may wish to stay for a packed lunch. Please make sure their packed lunch box is clearly labelled. Children will be provided with a drink of water, but they may bring their own drink (not fizzy). For safety reasons we ask that children do not bring cans, glass bottles or flasks with glass. Sweets, bubble gum and chocolate bars are not allowed at lunchtime as we encourage children to each healthily. If your child has these items in their packed lunch, they will be removed and returned to you at the end of the school day.

School Milk and Fruit

School milk is available for all pupils through the Cool Milk Scheme. It is provided free of charge ti certain children who are eligible. Please contact the school office for the necessary forms.

Pupils in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fresh fruit each day. If you do not wish your child to receive fruit, please inofrm the school office.

Research has shown the importance of children drinking plenty if water throughout the day and therefore children can bring plain drinking water to school in a named bottle (no fizzy or flavoured water or juice is permitted as this does not proved the same benefit as still water)
