Family Support

The role of our Care, Guidance and Support Leader, Miss Fern Greenwell, is to help pupils to overcome their barriers to learning in order to give them the best opportunity to fulfil their potential and to provide behaviour and mentoring support. She can work with pupils on a one to one basis or in small groups and also runs lunchtime clubs and a Western University group.

Some of the issues that are supported through mentoring include:
  • Low self esteem / confidence
  • Friendship issues / bullying
  • Organisational skills
  • Health issues
  • Family issues
  • Negative behaviour in school
  • Anger management
  • Bereavement
  • Worries and stresses
  • Time management
  • Attendance
The team can also provide help and support for parents. They can put parents and carers in contact with other professionals such as the school nurse who can provide support with issues such as bed wetting, fussy eating etc. Our team are also available to support parents and carers of children in nursery, Reception and Year 1 with any issues which affect their development.
